Rhonda Carol Burdette, a great daughter, mother, and Meme, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, in her hometown of Anderson, South Carolina. Born on February 4, 1967, to the late Glennell Whitfield and Howard Burdette, Rhonda's vibrant spirit and infectious smile were a blessing to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her brother Wayne Burdette, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Rhonda's life was marked by her adventurous nature and selfless love. She was the beloved mother of Aisha Hunter, married to Travis, and sons Joshua and Quintin Payton. Her role as a Meme to Amari, Kayani, Alexander, Princeton, Gabbi, and Josh Jr. was one of her greatest joys. She nurtured her grandchildren with the same boundless affection she showed to all her family, including her brother Dale married to Jenny Burdette, Tracy, and Dennis Burdette, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who were like family to her.
Rhonda's professional journey was as spirited as her personal life. Many of you knew her as the BEST bartender around, where her warm demeanor and genuine interest in people made her a favorite among patrons. Later, she found her passion in cooking, a role in which she continued to care for and serve others. Her love for her job was evident in every dish she prepared, and she often said that her recipes were made with love as the main ingredient.
Outside of work, Rhonda was an avid traveler, always ready for a new adventure. Her travels were not only about the places she visited but also about the people she met and the experiences she shared with her family and friends. Her zest for life was contagious, and she had a unique ability to make every outing memorable.
Above all, Rhonda was known for her loving and selfless nature. She had an open heart and an open door, always ready to take care of those around her. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she was often the life of the party, enjoying a good drink and a good time with those she held dear.
Rhonda's passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
