Richard T. "Dick" MacDougal died May 16, 2026, at Wesley Commons Retirement Community. He was born August 10, 1930, to Harry Martin and Dorothy Huber MacDougal in Ithaca, NY. He was the husband of Elizabeth "Betsy" Buckhout MacDougal.
Dick graduated from Arlington High School in Arlington, MA, where he was a track star in middle distance running. He continued his education and competing at Yale and later received advanced degrees from Boston College and Boston University. After three years in the Army, he worked for NE Tel & Tel, First Boston Bank and then taught at Dean College in Franklin, MA, until retirement. He shared his love of running with his students as their track coach. In retirement he concentrated on golf, gardening, and singing in church choirs and community choruses. He also became involved in the Clan MacDougal Society of North America and served as its president from 1997-2000. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greenwood, SC.
He is survived by his wife, sons David, Richard, Robert (wife Damina), Douglas (wife Harriet), and daughter Anne Carine. He also has 10 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in June at Wesley Commons.
