Richard H. Murphy Jr., affection known as Ricky passed away on February 22, 2026, at the age of 60 in Greenville, South Carolina, where he was born on October 7, 1965. Ricky was a man of many qualities—loving, handy, and friendly—who carried a spirit that was both generous and kind. He will be remembered for his giving nature and an infectious enthusiasm for life that touched the hearts of everyone he met.
Ricky had a passion for the outdoors that manifested in various hobbies. He found joy in yardwork and landscaping, always striving to enhance the beauty of his surroundings. Camping, fishing, and hunting were activities that brought him immense pleasure, reflecting his vibrant connection with nature. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished time spent in the natural world, relishing each moment under the sun and stars.
In addition to his many interests, Ricky’s family meant everything to him. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Heather Murphy, and son, Brandon Murphy. He also leaves behind his brother, Robert (Marie) Murphy, his and aunt Francis (Will) Chandler. Ricky's legacy continues through his nephew, Kyle Murphy, and his great nieces and great nephew, Courtney (Kasey) Mcabee and Mitchel Myers.
Ricky was preceded in death by his father, Richard Henry Murphy Sr., and his mother, Annie Lou McCarson. The memories created with his family will linger on, echoing his loving spirit and the warmth he brought into their lives. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
