Richard "Rick" Henry Bennett, born February 12, 1948, in Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, in Greenville, SC. Rick was 78 years old, and throughout his long and meaningful life, he touched the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

Rick's early years in Philadelphia provided a foundation for a remarkable life, one marked by steadfast devotion to family, dedicated service, and a spirit unfailingly marked by kindness and wit. He bravely served his country as a member of the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. Rick later honored fellow veterans he encountered, often handing out commemorative military coins as a gesture of camaraderie and respect.

For three decades, Rick worked as an audio and video technician at WYFF News 4 in Greenville, SC. An avid photographer, he captured moments both grand and intimate, revealing a unique and creative way of viewing the world. His writing, profound and insightful, touched those who were privileged to read it.

A deep love for the outdoors and his home was evident in Rick's commitment to maintaining his family acreage and creating a sanctuary for his loved ones.

Rick's extremely quick and sharp humor was a lifelong hallmark, endearing him to friends, family, and newcomers alike. His presence brought joy and laughter wherever he went, and those cherished memories will remain with all who knew him. Through the years, he bequeathed his family in Greenville, Denver, and Pennsylvania a legacy of hilarious, heartfelt, and truly unforgettable stories.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Susan Tait Bennett; his son, Jonathan Tyson Bennett; his daughter, Sarah Tait Bennett; his cherished grandson, Tyson Medlock Bennett; as well as his daughter-in-law, Diana Medlock Bennett and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rick's love and support extended to his siblings: John Bennett Jr., Mary Ellen Hankele, Robert Bennett, Kathleen Fern. His extended family includes Forbes Tait, Heidi Tait, Helen Tait, Joan Bennett (William), Margaret Bennett (Robert).

Rick's memory will be cherished even as we remember those family members who predeceased him: his father John Bennett, his mother Marie Bennett, his sister Patsy Bennett, his brother William Bennett, and Janice (John Bennett Jr). Each of these relationships was woven into the tapestry of his well-lived life.

Those who knew Rick will remember not only his accomplishments but also the deep love and humor he shared. One of his few regrets was not being able to see his grandson grow up—a reflection of his devotion to family and the importance he placed on generational bonds.
