Richard Dean "Bub" Smith, a beloved figure in his community and a devoted family man, passed away on December 3, 2025, in Greenville, South Carolina. He was 82 years old. Born on April 26, 1943, in Mishawaka, Indiana, Richard was known not just for his impressive career but also for his larger-than-life personality.

Richard retired from Cryovac in Simpsonville, South Carolina, where he dedicated many years of his life to his work. Respected by his colleagues and friends, he brought a sense of humor and a can-do attitude to every project he undertook. His courage and resourcefulness were admired by many, traits that were reflected in both his professional and personal life.

He had a profound appreciation for music, particularly Gospel and the lively tunes of the 50s, often expressing himself through his love for playing the piano, keyboard, and bass guitar. Additionally, Richard found joy in woodworking, where he crafted beautiful pieces that showcased his skill and creativity. His hobbies brought him immense happiness and allowed him to share his talents with family and friends.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Sandy Smith; sons Richard Smith (Misty) and Jamie Smith (Amanda); and a cherished sister, Dolly Ferro. He also leaves behind the light of his life, his grandkids: Jessica Smith, Ashley Semberger, Lilah Smith, and Joshua Smith, who will remember him fondly for his playful spirit and unwavering support.

He is preceded in death by his son, Wally Smith (Julie), whose memory continues to be held dear by all who loved him.

Richard Dean "Bub" Smith's legacy of love, laughter, and craftsmanship will continue to resonate with those fortunate enough to have known him. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
