Rodney Henry Houser, affectionately known as Rod, passed away on February 23, 2026, at the age of 81. He was born on February 17, 1945, and worked for Public Service of North Carolina.
Rod was a loving husband to Dawn Houser and a proud father to his daughter Teresa Houser Bell and her husband Brent. His grandchildren, Emily Bell Smith and Alec Bell, brought him immeasurable joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Rob Houser, Lisa Houser, and Chris Houser. He is preceded in death by his father, Cat Houser, his mother, Dee Dee Smith, step father, Jack Smith, and his brother, Bob Houser.
Rod's personality shone brightly through his loving nature, and he will be remembered as one of the kindest and funniest individuals anyone could have the privilege to know. Friends and family alike found solace and inspiration in his unwavering faith, which guided him throughout his life and touched all those around him.
A passionate fan of NASCAR and football, Rod's enthusiasm for these sports reflected his vibrant spirit and love for competition. He was not just a fan but an embodiment of the excitement and camaraderie that sports provide.
Among his proudest accomplishments, Rod was regarded as a legend in his own time, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many. He truly was the man, the myth, and the legend, figures ascribed to those who inspire greatness in others.
Rodney Henry Houser will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his memory will live on in the stories shared and the lives he touched.
