Roger Cary Cottrell, a cherished family man, deeply respected colleague, and master craftsman, passed away on June 26, 2025, in Greenville, SC, at the age of 64. Born on November 23, 1960, in Alexandria, VA, Roger's life was a testament to his intelligence, handiness, and creative spirit.  He was deeply rooted in faith and was an active member of Advent United Methodist Church.

Roger is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Kathy Cottrell, and their devoted children: David Cottrell, Cary Rita (Zac) Rita, Taylor Cottrell, Thomas Cottrell, Shannon, and Trey Cottrell (Lacey). His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren, Caroline and Levi. Roger's mother, Virginia Cottrell, his sister Florence Moses (Steve), and his nieces and nephews, Ginny, Suzanna, and John Moses, will hold his memory dear. He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Cottrell.

For 40 years, Roger dedicated his professional life to Michelin, where he was not only respected for his work ethic but also for his ability to mentor and inspire his colleagues. His involvement in various associations within his field reflected his commitment to excellence and his passion for sharing knowledge.

Roger's love for his family was unparalleled. He coached his children's sports teams and activities with enthusiasm, never missing a game or a chance to encourage them.   A glimpse into Rogers' dedication to his kids' activities included the custom-built starter stand for the neighborhood swim team and a life-size spiral staircase created for dance recitals. His presence was a constant at every family activity, and his guidance was the foundation of many cherished memories.

As an outdoorsman, Roger found joy in camping with his family, creating unforgettable experiences and lessons learned. His love for Lake Keowee was well-known, as he spent countless hours boating on its waters, a place where he felt most at peace.

Roger's talents extended beyond his professional life into his passion for woodworking. His hands skillfully turned simple materials into one-of-a-kind masterpieces, each project imbued with a piece of his heart. His pride in his craftsmanship was evident to all who were lucky enough to receive one of his creations.

A man of many interests, Roger's love for cars was more than a hobby; it was a part of who he was. He could fix anything, and his knowledge of automobiles was extensive. Friends and family often sought his expertise, and he always lent a helping hand with a smile.

Roger Cary Cottrell was the epitome of intelligence, handiness, and creativity. His impact on the lives he touched was profound, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we celebrate the enduring love and the indelible mark he left on this world. Roger's spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all the lives he enriched throughout his memorable journey.
