Russell Coates Towery

Russell “Rusty” Coates Towery, 55yrs old passed away Friday, June 6, 2025. Rusty, the son of Ann Lowe Towery of Simpsonville, SC and the late Kenneth Wayne Towery. He was born February 21, 1970 in Columbus, Ga at Martin Army Hospital. Rusty was a 1988 graduate of Dorman High School and attended USC-Upstate. He was a life long member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Rusty loved athletics/ sports growing up.

He was loved and had a great love for his family. Rusty is survived by Savannah Ella Towery Springer (Garrett) of Mt Pleasant, Tena Tillotson and their son Copper Lowe Towery of the home. Also, his brother David Scott Towery (Elizabeth) of Greenville, SC. He is also survived by his aunts, Rosemary Lowe Dunbar, and Kay McKinney Lowe, as well as his uncle Gary Furman Towery. Rusty leaves a host of loving Lowe and Towery cousins. Rusty was predeceased by his aunts Cathy Lowe Bragg, and Betsy Lowe Hope, along with his beloved maternal grandparents Bobo and Ella Lowe and paternal grandparents Grady and Gladys Towery. He was also predeceased by uncles David Lowe and Jimson Dunbar as well as his aunt Dottie Towery and cousin Jacob Collins.

A family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks
