Ruth Wright, a beacon of love and faith, passed away at her home on April 24, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 97 years old.
Ruth was born October 26, 1927, to the late Mr. Fred and Mrs. Leo. One of five children, she
is survived by her loving siblings, Jimmy (Jean) and Yvonne (Steve), and was preceded in death by her sister Doris (Billy) brother Bobby (Lou).
Ruth was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and dear friend to many. She was a woman of extraordinary grace and strength. Ruth leaves behind a legacy of unwavering kindness, boundless love, and gentle wisdom that touched all who knew her. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, revealed in her steadfast devotion to her church (Paris Mountain Holiness Baptist, Leawood Baptist and Parisview Baptist).
Ruth’s love for her family was unparalleled, and she instilled in them values of compassion and kindness while always putting God first. She married the love of her life, James Wright, and together they built a beautiful life, raising two daughters and making their home in Greenville, surrounded by family and close friends.
Ruth’s legacy is carried out by her loving daughters, Kathi Dickerson (Jimmy), and Jill Ellenburg (Tim). She was a doting grandmother to Jami Dickerson, Zachary McIntosh and his wife Rachel, and Somer Acierno and her husband Ryan. Ruth was also blessed with six great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy: Alley, Hunter, Hensley, Maggie, Berkley, and Emmie.
Ruth’s journey on earth may have ended, but her spirit remains alive in the memories she leaves behind. Her life was a beautiful tapestry of love and service, woven with the threads of faith and kindness. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire and guide us.
Ruth is now home, rejoicing with loved ones who have gone before her and resting in the arms of Jesus. As she entered Heaven’s gates, it’s as if we can all hear God saying, “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:21). Today, we celebrate a life well lived, a journey completed with grace, and a soul that has surely found its eternal home. Her memory will be cherished and honored by all who were blessed to have been touched by her gentle spirit.
