Sam McDonald, a devoted family man and skilled mill mechanic, passed away on April 6, 2026. Born on April 28, 1954, Sam’s life was a testament to hard work, selflessness, and an unyielding passion for all the things that brought him joy.

Professionally, Sam was known as a jack of all trades—a glorified maintenance man who took pride in his work. He worked for Michelin, where his expertise as a mill mechanic was deeply valued. Yet, beyond his career was a man with a rich and vibrant personality, characterized by his loving, funny, gentle, and passionate nature.

Sam found deep fulfillment in his hobbies and interests that reflected his warm spirit. He loved spending time with his family, a central part of his world, and was renowned for his musical talents, especially playing the drums and the guitar. Traveling holds a special place in his heart, particularly trips to the mountains, which he cherished deeply. A fan of country music, he complemented his musical tastes with the nurturing joys of gardening alongside his beloved wife, Mary.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary McDonald, who stood by his side through life's seasons. He is also survived by his children; Michelle Gibbs (Rusty) and Michael Paul McDonald (Tracy), his brother; David McDonald (Lela) and Wayne "Poo" McDonald (Brenda, step daughter; Jamie Rodgers (John), step son; Eric Collins, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

Those who knew Sam will remember him not only for his professional skill and wide-ranging talents but for the warmth and generosity that shaped every aspect of his life. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
