Sandra Harrington

June 16, 1941 — May 19, 2025

Greer, SC

Sandra Harrington passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 19, 2025, surrounded byfamily in accordance with her wishes. Sandy, to her friends and family, was born on June 16, 1941, in Newark, NJ, to Ida (Schmidt) and Andrew Torok. After moving to Pittstown, NJ, she met the love of her life, her devoted husband of 61 years, Paul Harrington.

Sandy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a mother to all the kids in her life. She especially loved volunteering at Skyland Elementary when her grandson started school.

For many years, Sandy was an avid handicrafter. She was part of several counted cross-stitch groups and taught many to crochet, knit, and cross-stitch. Having an ornament displayed in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC, was an honor for her. More special was knowing that friends and family had her works of art to enjoy for years to come. She also enjoyed baking; many will remember her pies and plates of Christmas cookies, which usually came with a handmade ornament.

In addition to her loving husband, Paul, Sandy is survived by her two children, Laurie Wismer of Harrisburg, PA, and Holly Horner (Joel) of Greer, SC. She has four grandchildren, April Gibson, Kendall Wismer (Tyler Jones), Emelie Wismer (Will Smith), and Sam Horner, and three great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Gibson, Della Smith, and Liam Jones.

In lieu of flowers, Sandy would want memorial gifts made to Springwell Church, 4369 Wade Hampton Blvd, Taylors, SC 29687, where she attended and found salvation.
