Sarah Jennings Hawkins

Sarah Jennings Hawkins, 87, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025 in Travelers Rest, SC. Sarah was born on December 16, 1937 in Greenville, SC. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1955 and graduated from Greenville General Hospital School for Nurses in 1959. Also in 1959, she married Charles Hawkins. They had two children, and eventually settled in Vienna, Va. 

Sarah pursued a career as a registered nurse and retired in 1992 after spending 26 years working for the Virginia Department of Health as a Fairfax County public health nurse. Sarah was very proud to be a nurse while helping others. In her free time, she loved shopping for antiques and other treasured collections. During retirement, Sarah and Charles became loyal Washington Nationals fans and enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren. Sarah's most precious times were the times she spend with her family and friends, particularly with her loving sister -in- law Margaret Durham. 

She is predeceased by her husband Charles, two sisters, Francis Jennings and June Kreugar, and her beloved cat Snoopy. She is survived by her children, Richard Brian Hawkins(Debbie), Sandra Ingley(Bill), Brandon Ingley(Stephanie). Meagan Valentich(Robert), and Patrick Ingley(Melissa), and four great-grandchildren, Jameson, William, Hudson, and Palmer.
