Steven A. Clarke of Iva, SC, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the age of 68, after 2 years of debilitating complications associated with epilepsy.

Steven was the 2nd son of Robert R., and Ruth P. Clarke, who preceded him in death. He is survived by brothers, Dennis Clarke, and wife Holly of Ctr. Tuftonboro, NH, Gary Clarke, and his wife Lila of Arcadia, FL and sister Cindy Downs, and husband Scott of New Durham, NH, sons Steven Clarke of Haverhill, MA, Robbie Clarke of Lowell, MA, Justin Clarke of Lawrence, MA, and daughter Barbara Arsenault (who preceded him in death). He was a proud Grandfather of 13, Great Grandfather of 1 and an uncle to 8.

Steven took up playing left-handed guitar, self-taught, in the early 1970’s and while he lived in North Olmsted, OH, he and a friend cut a 45 rpm record with a song dedicated to our parents. Music was his passion, and gift too all.

Steven worked at a number of small companies before having to retire early due to his severe epilepsy. Steven was one of the very first test patients chosen by Dartmouth Hitchcock, NH for experimental brain surgery in attempts to relieve effects of severe epilepsy for him and others.

He moved from Lawrence, MA, to Iva, SC where he purchased his home. It was his pride and joy. He loved his beautiful flowers and his fig trees. He loved to photograph them to share with family and he was a wonderful nature / still life photographer.

He will always be remembered for his strong beliefs, neighborhood generosity, great humor and infectious laugh.

Due to winter restrictions his interment at John Shirley Cemetery in New Durham, NH will be announced sometime in April or May. Thank you for all your prayers, support and kind remembrances.
