Our good Lord called Sydney home on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, after residing at Powdersville Post Acute.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl C. Julien, of Greenville, S.C., Jay (Brenda) Chappelear of Vero Beach, FL, Scott Chappelear of Greenville, S.C., and Angie Smith Chappelear of Williamston, S.C. Sydney also leaves behind grandchildren Kyle, Eric and Brett, and great-grandchildren Nathan, Olivia, Franklin and Lucas, and many nieces, great nieces, nephews, and great-nephews, all of whom were greatly loved by her.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Jones Bonner Chappelear II, her daughter Laurie, her brother Charles, her sister Emily, and her parents Amy Viola Connell and James Arthur Connell.

Sydney always put God and family first. She had a dedicated career of service at Riomar Bay Yacht Club in Vero Beach, FL, for over thirty years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a happy thrift store shopper. She lovingly made the very best mac and cheese!
