Teddy Lynn Hicks

Teddy Lynn Hicks, a man known for landing the biggest fish, the tallest tales, and the warmest laughs, embarked on his final expedition on February 7, 2024. Born on January 3, 1949, in the quaint town of Mt Airy, NC, Teddy spent his years building a life as sturdy and impressive as the structures he engineered for Norfolk Southern Railroad.

A loving husband to his dear wife Cathy Hicks, and a proud family man, Teddy has taken his leave, handing down a legacy of love and laughter to his sister Donna Isaacs, his grandson James R. Turner III (Jay) and his wife Jessica, grandson Elijah B. Turner, granddaughter Jenna K. Turner, and great-grandchildren Jamie and Jedidiah. He was guided into the great beyond by his bonus son, James R. Turner Jr., and he undoubtedly had a few choice jokes saved up just for the occasion.

Teddy was the uncle everyone wished they had according to his many favorite nieces and nephews. Armed with a fishing rod and a quip for every moment, he wove tales that made imaginations soar higher than the kites at a Fourth of July picnic. His favorite nieces and nephews often found themselves the stars of his legendary narratives.

As a veteran of the Army, Teddy was as disciplined as he was mischievous, but rest assured, if doing something loving, kind, or generous could be considered a full-time job, Teddy would have been CEO. Remember Teddy Hicks: a man who never had a headache but was famous for causing thousands.
A celebration of life will be held Monday February 12th at 1PM, at Foothills Baptist Church 1204 N Highway 25 Travelers Rest SC 29690. In leu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the people who were there for them in the hardest times, Agape Hospice, located at 260 Fairwinds Dr, Landrum, SC 29356.
