Listen to Obituary

Teresa Wagner, of Elizabethtown, PA, passed away in the early morning hours of October 19, 2025. Born on June 15, 1949, to Harold and Cleora Shank, she was raised in Elizabethtown alongside her brother Jeff.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Kent Wagner. Their life together was rich with family, friends, sports, laughter, and a healthy dose of sarcasm. Co-owning the Black Horse Hotel brought them years of unforgettable memories. Later, Terri worked as a bookkeeper until the age of 70. At home, she never minded the constant stream of football, basketball, or baseball games on TV—thanks to her love of reading—but in later years, when she had control of the remote, those games mysteriously disappeared. Still, she often joined Kent to watch a game during her daily dinner visits after he moved to a nursing home. Terri was Kent’s unwavering supporter, caring for him with devotion until the end. She was also preceded in death by her cherished Westie, Bailey, who was known to be the favorite child.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise Riddle of Simpsonville, SC; her son, Dustin Wagner and his wife Stephanie of Wilmington, NC; five grandchildren—Brandon and Brooke Riddle, and Hannah, Emma, and Eric Wagner; her brother Jeff Shank and his wife Roberta; and her dear cousin Yvonne Duncan. Terri never introduced her children or grandchildren as “step” —to her, they were simply her family, loved wholeheartedly and without distinction.

Terri found joy in her monthly card club with close friends, spent many years in a bowling league, and took great pride in maintaining a beautiful yard. She had a deep love for dogs, especially Westies, though any dog could win her heart. Even with such a kind nature, she was fiercely independent, never one to hold back her thoughts, and was known for her meticulous nature and unmatched organization. Nothing was ever left out of place when she left a room.

In her final years, Terri moved to South Carolina to be near her daughter. She embraced the simple pleasures: crime shows, a cold Diet Pepsi, and the comforting presence of a dog by her side. If you wanted to see her smile, all it took was a pup and her favorite drink.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Family Hospice of Greenville for their compassion, comfort and kindness to Terri and our whole family during this difficult time.

A memorial service and interment will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Fort Indiantown Gap Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the ASPCA, your local Humane Society, or a rescue organization in her memory.
