Toni Jean Lowe passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, in Greenville, SC, at the age of 79. Born on October 6, 1945, in Akron, OH, Toni's life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family, her passion for teaching, and her love of animals.

Toni was preceded in death by her parents, Clarice and Olen Whitener and sister Rebecca Waak. Toni, together with her husband James, raised two wonderful children, Jennifer Smuniewski, married to Kevin, and Michael Lowe, married to Jessica. Toni's role as a grandmother to Brooklynn, Kennedy, and James Lowe was one of her greatest joys.

Toni and James celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary on August 17, 2025, the day that Toni passed away.

Toni's love extended to her sister, Judith Wille, and brother-in-law, Charles, as well as her niece, Rebecca Lanese, and her husband, Tony. Her nephew, Benjamin Wille, and her great-nieces and great-nephews, including two great-great-nephews, also held a special place in her heart.

A lifelong learner and educator, Toni earned her BA in Education and dedicated 34 years to teaching. Outside of teaching, Toni was an avid Clemson Tigers fan. Over her lifetime, she also welcomed six dogs into her home, each one cherished as her "good children.” Toni’s motto was “I hope I can be as good of a person as my dog thinks I am.”

Toni’s hobbies included reading, gardening, crafts, and vacationing at the beach in Charleston SC. She loved history, especially visiting Revolutionary War sites in both South Carolina and North Carolina. Toni retired from Berea Elementary school in 2016. One of Toni’s favorite grades to teach was 3rd grade because she had the opportunity to teach South Carolina history.

Toni's legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and a profound ability to touch the lives of others. Her intelligence, creativity, and thoughtfulness will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. We take solace in the countless memories and lessons she has left behind. Toni’s spirit will always be with us.
