Tony Laran Cooper, known to family and friends as Tony, passed away on November 1, 2026, in Greenville, South Carolina, at the age of 57.

Tony was born on August 20, 1969, in Florence, South Carolina, where he began a life that would be marked by devotion to family, service, and a spirit that was both creative and memorable. He grew up in Sheminally, SC where he attended New Prospect Christain School. He was the son of the late Junior Cooper and Sybil Griffith Cooper. He is survived by his sister, Laura Evans, who will cherish his memory always, along with his children, Joseph Cooper and his wife Courtney, Jessica Smith and her husband Mychael, Heather Broach, Aiden “Lillith” Cooper, and Troy Cooper and his wife Brooke. Tony also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, who brought him great joy, as well as 2 nieces and 3 nephews, all of whom will carry forward the love and stories he shared with them.

Tony dedicated 14 years of his life to the South Carolina National Guard, where he served with commitment and discipline. He took pride in his service and in the values it represented, and those who knew him understood that he approached responsibility with seriousness and honor. His work and service were important parts of his life, and they remain a meaningful part of the legacy he leaves behind.

Outside of his service, Tony enjoyed the things that made life rich and engaging. He had a strong interest in Dungeons and Dragons, where imagination and storytelling could come together in ways that suited his creative mind.
