William Chase Borden, known affectionately as Chase to his friends and family, passed away on August 15, 2025, in his hometown of Greenville, South Carolina. Born on February 15, 1984, also in Greenville, Chase's life was a testament to the love and bonds of family, the joy of fatherhood, and the pursuit of passions that make life vibrant.

Chase was the cherished son of Gretchen B. Halberstadt and the late Ted W. Halberstadt, whose memory he held close to his heart. He was the proud father of two wonderful daughters, Kiley R. Borden and Caroline B. Borden, who were the lights of his life. Chase's family tree was deeply rooted in the Carolinas, with his late grandfather, Max G. Borden, hailing from Easley, SC, and his late grandmother, Vera Maynor, from Pittsburgh, PA. His living grandmother, Patricia Borden, along with his uncle Russell Borden and his wife Sandy, and his aunt Cindy Mercer of Atlanta, GA, were integral parts of his upbringing. Chase was also blessed with a multitude of cousins and aunts who played significant roles throughout his life, contributing to his upbringing and sharing in the joys and challenges that life presented.

A proud alumnus of Berea High School, Chase carried with him the lessons and friendships he made there throughout his life. Chase was known for being a hands-on father, always ready to support and engage in his daughters' activities and interests. His approach to life was marked by a sense of adventure and a deep commitment to those he loved.

Chase's interests were as lively and dynamic as his personality. An avid skateboarder and bicyclist, he found joy and freedom in the thrill of the ride. His adventurous spirit was matched by his unwavering support for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Those who knew Chase will remember him as a loving and friendly individual, whose adventurous spirit was contagious. His presence could light up a room, and his laughter was a melody that resonated in the hearts of those around him. Chase's legacy is one of love, friendship, and the courage to embrace life's journey with open arms.

A Celebration of Life party will be planned for a future date.
