William “David” Moorhead, 49, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed away on August 2, 2026, surrounded by his family and many friends who meant so much to him.

If you knew David, you knew his laugh. He lived life with a big personality, an infectious laugh, and a quick wit. He was outgoing, fiercely independent, and stubborn in the way only David could be. He always seemed to have a great one-liner ready, usually delivered with perfect timing and that laugh so many will remember.

David attended Wade Hampton High School, where he played both soccer and basketball. Soccer became a lifelong passion, and he continued to play well into adulthood.

David spent his career working in the service and telecommunications industry. He trained and mentored many people throughout his career, and what began as working relationships often grew into lifelong friendships. Building connections came naturally to David, and many of the people he worked with became friends who remained an important part of his life long after they no longer worked together.

David loved many things, and he loved them wholeheartedly. He was a devoted Georgia Bulldogs fan, an avid fisherman, and a true Parrothead who loved to blast Jimmy Buffett songs. He also loved to cook and was exceptionally good at it!

David had a lifelong love of dogs. He adored his beloved dogs, Leif and Crick, who preceded him in death, and his current companion, Phin, who was never far from his side. Dogs were always drawn to David. They were family to him, and the love and companionship they shared brought him tremendous joy throughout his life.

David had an extraordinary ability to make friends, and he was blessed with a remarkable circle of them. His friends and cousins were not simply there in name; they showed up. They were there day after day, bringing companionship, laughter, help, and love when David needed it most. His friends and cousins stood beside him, cared for him, and made sure he was never alone. Their unwavering presence during his final days was a beautiful testament not only to the kind of friend David had been to so many, but also to the special bond he shared with his family.

David is survived by his mother, JoAnn Crolley, and his stepfather, Marion Crolley, of North Myrtle Beach; his stepmother, Debra Muzekari Moorhead, of Greenville; his brother, Brian, and his wife, Rachael, of Charlotte, North Carolina; his sister, Amy, and her husband, Ben, of Atlanta, Georgia; and his niece and Goddaughter, Kara. He was predeceased by his father, Donald R. Moorhead. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Phin, the “Fat-Tater.”

David will be remembered on the soccer field, on the water with a fishing rod in hand, cooking delicious meals, cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs, blasting Jimmy Buffett, and surrounded by the friends and family who loved him.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Services will be held at Christ Church Episcopal, 10 North Church Street, Greenville, SC 29601, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary with a reception to follow in the All-Saints Center, Room 100.
