Our Story

Our Story

Ever since we opened our gates we have approached life (and death) differently. While some just see the end of a loved one’s life as a time for grief and mourning, we prefer to think of it as a time for reflection, appreciation and even celebration. This is evident in everything we do, from the way we conduct our services to the amenities we choose to offer. We are not a burial ground. We are a close-knit community dedicated to honoring, sharing and preserving the amazing and inspirational stories that are life.

Our two locations are deeply rooted in the Greenville community. Built around 1920, Westville in Greenville's recently revitalized West End began as a high school in the Tanglewood Building. It wasn't until 1925 when the two-story brick building was added and the name changed to Westville. It became a full high school during the 1931-1932 school term, when there was a graduating class of eight! Westville continued as an elementary school until the mid-1960s. In fact many of our expansive meeting rooms were classrooms and offices. The chapel was the school gymnasium and sometimes the dining hall. The building was used as an antiquities shop for a time and later remodeled as a funeral home by the Jones family in the 80's.
We are honored to serve all members of far-reaching communities of the Upstate in such a facility where many young minds of past generations were trained.
The Crematorium located near the ever-expanding downtown was built in 1974, and updated in 1999 as South Carolina's first licensed Crematory Funeral Home and Cremation Society. We've always had our own crematory, and continue to help families with proven support, consistent service, and dignified options.
