My goal is to make the funeral planning process as smooth and stress-free as possible for you. As a graduate of the State University of New York at Farmingdale for Mortuary Science, Joseph brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role. His commitment to providing compassionate and professional care to families in need, combined with his proven management skills, makes him a valuable asset to the funeral home. Joseph's journey into the funeral business began immediately after high school, where he quickly discovered his passion for helping others during difficult times.

Alonzo Gary License #4758

Licensed Apprentice Funeral Director/ Embalmer

Alonzo is an Apprentice Funeral Director/Embalmer with a diverse background in the Funeral Industry. He graduated from Clinton High School in 2013 and subsequently enlisted in the United States Army, where he served honorably for five years, including a deployment to Iraq. After his military service, Alonzo embarked on a new career path in Law Enforcement, dedicating four years to serving his local community as a Deputy Sheriff. In late 2020, he started working with Cremation Society of SC-Westville Funerals as part of the transport removal team and has served as a funeral attendant as well. Alongside his professional commitments, Alonzo also fulfills a vital role as the Executive Pastor at his church. He is currently enrolled at Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, where he is working toward an Associate's Degree in Applied Science. Alonzo's ultimate goal is to obtain his Funeral Director/Embalmer License and continue his commitment to serving and supporting others during their most challenging times.

Lead Receptionist

Cat Thurston serves as Lead Receptionist and a valued member of the Administrative Team at Cremation Society of SC–Westville Funerals. As one of the first voices and faces families encounter, Cat is known for her warmth, professionalism, and compassionate approach during difficult moments. Being bilingual, she is proud to assist and communicate with families from diverse backgrounds throughout the Upstate community.

Working in funeral service has given Cat a deep appreciation for the value of life, family, and meaningful connection. She is dedicated to helping families feel welcomed, supported, and cared for throughout the funeral process.

Outside of the funeral home, Cat enjoys spending time with her husband and children. Whether cheering on her oldest at the soccer field, keeping up with her youngest’s adventurous spirit, or attending church on Sundays, family remains at the center of her life and values.
